RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – The Georgia Department of Agriculture has accepted an amended label for Termidor® termiticide-insecticide from BASF. The amended label includes directions-for-use for exterior-perimeter/localized-interior (EP/LI) control of subterranean termites.
The amended Termidor label – described by BASF as a PerimeterPLUS treatment – provides a new option for effective post-construction control of subterranean termites, with a labeled application that is significantly less invasive to the structure than a “conventional” post-construction liquid termiticide treatment. Termidor is the only liquid termiticide to receive U.S. EPA approval of EP/LI treatment directions-for-use.
In all, forty-seven states have now signed off on the PerimeterPLUS label amendment. BASF will continue working with state officials to gain approval of the amended Termidor label in Louisiana and Mississippi (Termidor is currently not registered for use in the state of New York).
“The approval of the amended Termidor label provides BASF Partners in Georgia with a full range of effective, undetectable termite defense options,” notes John McCauley, Government Relations Representative for the Professional Pest Control group of BASF. “We’re excited to offer this new application method to Georgia PMPs, and look forward to working with state officials in Louisiana and Mississippi – two key termite states – to ensure Partners in those areas have access to this effective, less-invasive treatment option.”
Having been granted label approval in Georgia, BASF will continue its efforts to train current and new Termidor Partners on the PerimeterPLUS directions-for-use. Comments Karl J. Kisner, Senior Marketing Manager, BASF, “Ensuring that pest control professionals are educated on the details and complexities of the PerimeterPLUS directions-for-use is the best way we can guarantee its future effectiveness and viability.”
Beginning in October, BASF’s experienced sales and technical team will be offering face-to-face PerimeterPLUS training to BASF Partners in Georgia. Partners should contact their local sales representative for more information on local training, or visit www.PestControlFacts.com to view a schedule of regional PerimeterPLUS training sessions. Termidor Partners can also access PerimeterPLUS training online, as well as sign-up for the BASF e-Update Program to receive the latest approval and regional training information via e-mail. Termidor Partners in Georgia have until December 31, 2005 to complete Termidor PerimeterPLUS training.
