KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Griffin Pest Solutions employees attended Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training presented by the American Institute of Baking (AIB), Jan. 20-21. The training educated Griffin Pest Solutions employees on specific requirements for AIB audited manufacturing facilities in order to help customers lower contamination risks.
AIB audits food and beverage related businesses such as processing plants, packaging facilities, manufacturing facilities, agricultural crops, grain handling facilities, distribution centers, etc. Comprehensive GMP audits evaluate the adequacy of the: food safety programs, management systems, pest control programs, operational methods and personnel practices, maintenance for food safety and cleaning practices.
“Some companies require that all of their suppliers, whether they make hamburger buns or napkins, be audited by AIB,” said Jeff Spencer, vice president of Griffin Pest Solutions. “Other companies, such as packaging suppliers, become AIB audit customers because they are committed to doing all they can to provide clean, safe products. Educating our employees on Good Manufacturing Practices will help us better assist our customers in achieving high AIB audit scores.”
Spencer added that "specialized training gives our company a distinct advantage. In tough economic times, we need to differentiate ourselves from the competition.”
Employees who attended the training session included service technicians, service managers, commercial sales representatives and corporate management. All Griffin Pest Solutions employees attending the two-day seminar received an AIB certificate for completion of the course.
