Central Florida boasts a wealth of businessmen and women in leadership roles, but the Orlando Business Journal has chosen 10 who have proven to have not only influenced others within the corporate sphere, but also made a significant impact on their communities.
“Unsought recognition such as this is always very nice,” Massey said. “However, the real rewards in business come from taking care of customers and helping our team members achieve their goals.”
A 44-year veteran in the pest management industry, Massey has served in a variety of leadership positions in the National Pest Management Association, including founding chairman of NPMA’s Professional Pest Management Alliance. Since purchasing the Walker Chemical & Exterminating Company in February 1985 and changing its name to Massey Services, the company has grown from four Service Centers to 59 and was recently named one of OBJ’s “Golden 100” privately held companies.
Massey’s influence on those around him does not end with his corporate or business role. Mr. Massey is currently a member of the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority, Winter Park Memorial Hospital Family Foundation and the Rollins College President’s Leadership Council.
Previously, he served as a trustee of Stetson University, on the board of the Dr. P. Phillips Foundation and the National Conference of Community and Justice (NCCJ), as well as past chairman of Florida Citrus Sports, United Arts of Central Florida, the Orange County (Florida) Arts and Cultural Affairs Task Force and Past Chair of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Pest Control Advisory Committee.
