Keynote and opening speaker for the conference was Norman Goldenberg, senior vice president, government affairs, Terminix International. Goldenberg stressed the importance of members belonging to associations and credited HPCA for its active legislative activities in defense of the pest control industry in Hawaii.
In addition the conference provided education and continuing education credits to certified technicians, owners and managers of pest control companies. The show featured 15 different seminars and offered attendees more than 20 booths in order to discuss current products and trends with manufacturers and industry consultants.
Other noted speakers included: Dr. Chow Yang Lee from the University of Malaysia; Dr. Phil McNally (Bayer); Dr. Julian Yates (University of Hawaii) and Dr. Mike Merchant (University of Texas). Merchant gave an IPM in schools seminar.
Sponsors for the event included BASF, Bayer, Business Insurance Services, Dow AgroSciences, FMC, Syngenta and Univar USA. The 2006 conferences is scheduled for Sept. 29 in Waikiki.
