CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Technician Kirk Hickman of Hulett Environmental Services went to a customer’s house Monday for regular service and ended up in an unexpected situation.
When Hickman knocked on the door, he noticed the smell of smoke coming from inside the home and heard smoke alarms going off. The door was unlocked and he let himself in to see if anyone was home. No one was home, however he did find a pan burning on the stove and he quickly put it into the sink.
He called 9-11 and then the customer. When the police arrived, they told the owner Samuel Shapiro if Hulett was not there, the house would have been burned down.
A Hulett representative told PCT, "We’re all proud of how our team member, Kirk, responded and didn’t hesitate to help in this emergency.
