The Hutchinson (Kan.) City Council voted 3-2 Tuesday to change the city's policy on handling wildlife-related calls to animal control, the Hutchinson News reports.
The city will continue to lease traps for and respond to calls about cats, dogs and other domestic animals, but those with complaints involving wildlife will be directed to call the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, a licensed pest control company or other individuals licensed by the KDWP to dispose of the animal.
The decision was made because the city's current policy was not in compliance with state law.
