MCHENRY, Ill - New business owner, Peter F. Schopen, Jr., recently spoke to school children at Edgebrook Elementary School in McHenry, Illinois, as part of his "out-reach" program to educate people on the basics of pest control.

"One of the things I set out to do with my new company, is to make people feel as comfortable around pesticides as possible," said Schopen. The former sports broadcaster says since he has no problems talking to groups, he can get his message out to large numbers of people. "The way to educate people is by speaking to civic groups or at community events. I try to explain to them that insecticides and rodenticides are just one part of the I.P.M. process."

Pete's presentations usually last around and hour and he says he gets great feedback from the kids. "One 2nd grader asked me some pretty in-depth questions on the complete metamorphosis of moths. I was very impressed." remarked Schopen.

The 36-year-old PCO started Schopen Pest Solutions, Inc., in April of 2006 after working several years with his family at Mid Central Pest Control, Inc
