SHS Pest Control
PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – Ernie Nascimento, founder of SHS Pest Control, Portsmouth, R.I., passed away Jan. 5. He was 91.
Nascimento served in the United States Army from March 1951 to March 1954. After returning home, he worked as a mechanic before teaching himself construction. He started Nascimento Builders and went on to build homes and commercial apartment buildings throughout Tiverton, Portsmouth, Little Compton and Fall River, R.I. He also started Nascimento Properties, which was his rental apartment business.
In 1980, Nascimento founded SHS Pest Control, which he ran with his wife, Michele Eccles, until they retired in 2022. He was also instrumental in starting the New England Pest Control Association (NEPMA).
A memorial service is scheduled for Jan. 20 and a private burial will be held Jan. 21. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
