In Memoriam: Dr. George Fisher

AGAWAM, Mass. — Dr. George Fisher, who served as technical director for Braman Termite & Pest Elimination for 25 years, died on Dec. 11. He was 91.

After a distinguished career in business and academia, Fisher joined Braman in 1993 and was the company’s technical director until his retirement in 2018, at age 89.

In this position, Fisher was responsible for new employee onboarding; teaching; helping service professionals earn CEUs; pest ID; troubleshooting challenging accounts; etc.

“Doc was a very unique individual,” Robert Guyette, general manager, Braman Termite & Pest Elimination, told PCT. “When he would teach a class, he was very passionate and would go much deeper than most speakers. This helped our [technicians] talk more professionally about pest control and this helped us stand out from our competitors.”

Fisher was a man of varied talents who had a passion for insects, music and inspiring others. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Iowa, while studying voice at Parsons College. He then received his Ph.D. from Rutgers University.

At age 26, he debuted at New York City Hall and joined the prestigious Metropolitan Opera as a solo artist. He also was a vocal coach to Country Music legend Kenny Rogers. In mid-life, Fisher became an ordained minister and spent time leading several congregations throughout New England.
