Alain Van Ryckeghem, technical director for Insects Limited said, “It is a complex beetle pheromone that took me two years and eight components in various ratios to complete. The field tests are very encouraging.”
The Hide Beetle adult is a large blackish beetle with silver markings underneath. This scavenger beetle feeds on dried animal or plant materials of high protein content. It is found in pet food companies, dog treats like pig’s ears, poultry houses feeding on fly carcasses, museums on natural history objects, ham houses, and attics of homes where large populations of cluster flies exist.
This new pheromone comes in a Bullet Lure that will attract from a 15-20 foot radius with a duration of 60-90 days. The Bullet Lure is placed in a sticky trap or a pit fall trap. For more information, contact Alain VanRyckehem at insecthlp@insectslimited.com or go to www.insectslimited.com.
