TWINSBURG, OHIO, and SHERMAN OAKS, CALIF. – J.T. Eaton, a Twinsburg-based manufacturer of integrated pest management (IPM) products, has partnered with Borite Termite & Pest Treatments to bring rodent control relief to The Amanda Foundation, a California animal shelter.
Jack Launius, president of Borite, first became aware of the foundation when a representative called about a mite problem. Launius and his crew took care of the mites, and then found a growing roof rat infestation at the 75-year-old facility.
“Another group nearby takes care of feral cats by leaving food out in the yard,” he explains, “so there’s a lot of food competition.”
The non-profit Amanda Foundation was founded in 1976 to rescue pets from the pound throughout Los Angeles County and find new homes for them. Jack Launius turned to James Rodriguez, J.T. Eaton’s Western sales representative, to see what teaming up could do for the organization. Rodriguez was on board immediately, noting that the situation was a perfect fit for the manufacturer’s Stanley Z. Baker Philanthropic Program.
“We were able to donate cases of 401 STS snap trap stations, as well as cases of snap traps and bait boxes,” Rodriguez says.
In March, Launius and three of his colleagues donated five hours on a Saturday to do the initial decontamination and cleanout of the property, installing about 30 STS stations and another 30 bait boxes. Launius returns to the account weekly, although the knockdown he’s been able to accomplish means he can go to monthly later this spring.
