HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Jack Megee, 76, of McPherson, passed away on Oct. 18, at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson. Megee was in the pest control business most of his life and was the former owner/operator of Megee Pest Control. He had been a McPherson resident since 1973.
He was born July 29, 1935, in Broken Arrow, OK, the son of Wiley B. and Laura R. (McMurtry) Megee. He was one of twelve children born to the Megee family. He graduated from high school in Broken Arrow and later attended Wichita Technical Institute.
On February 14, 1958, he married E. Wynell Beard in Wichita, KS. This union was blessed with four children; Bradley, Bryan, Deena, and Renée.
Mr. Megee was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He currently served as a deacon in the church and was a former choir director. He also served as treasurer of the Smoky Hill Association of Southern Baptist Churches and was a former member of the McPherson Optimist Club.
Survivors include: his wife, Wynell of the home; two sons, Bradley Megee of Portland, OR and Bryan Megee (Esmeralda) of Corpus Christi, TX; two daughters, Deena Gabel (Chris) of McPherson, KS and Renée Unruh (Mike) of McPherson, KS; a brother, Russell Megee (Mary Ruth) of Tahlequah, OK; a sister, Judy Adsit of Cleveland, OK, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.
Memorial donations may be given to Calvary Baptist Church in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home.
