Jay Leno Gets Big Laugh with Terminix

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Comedian Jay Leno got big laughs during the May 9 monologue of the Tonight Show when he used the Terminix “If Walls Could Talk” commercial for comedic material.

“Have you seen this Terminix commercial where this woman comes into her house and all of a sudden this face forms in the wall?,” Leno asks the audience. “It starts warning her the house has termites, and then she says, 'oh I better get Terminix.'  Lady, let me tell you something, if your wall forms a face and starts talking to you, call Ghostbusters.”

The new series of ads, which began airing March 6, feature homes that interact with their owners. Each home in the series has distinct characteristics and personalities that are brought to life in the form of a human face which is seen on walls and doors.

“Our new ads have been extremely successful in capturing the attention of American consumers. Jay Leno’s ribbing is a sign that the spots are doing exactly what we intended – breaking through.” said Steve Good, vice president and chief marketing officer, Terminix.

The Terminix advertising campaign consists of four television ads and a series of online advertising.  A new micro-site, www.terminixprotection.com, also complements the campaign and allows visitors to take a tour of a home. The virtual tour is guided by “the wall,” which offers helpful hints for Web browsers.
