ALPHARETTA, Ga. — The pest control industry mourns the loss of Jeffrey W. Baden, 61, a longtime industry sales representative who most recently worked for Rockwell Labs.

Baden, who was southeast regional manager for Rockwell Labs, passed away unexpectedly in his home on May 21.

Baden served the pest control industry for more than 20 years, beginning at Sears Pest Control. He then worked for R-Value where he developed many of the first modern era borate pesticide products, including Drax, Borid, Mop-Up, and RedZone (now called Niban). Later at Nisus Corporation, he was instrumental in developing the industry standard treatment protocol for borate wood treatments. He then worked for Atlantic Paste & Glue, covering the Mid-Atlantic Region. He joined Rockwell in September of 2003, where he covered the Southeast, providing numerous training courses, product updates, CEU classes, and in-field trainings for PMPs.

“Jeff was above all a wonderful human being,” said Dr. Cisse Spragins, founder and CEO of Rockwell Labs Ltd. “He was instantly likeable, entertaining, humorous and highly creative. While he certainly represented our products well in the Southeast region, he was also an invaluable confidante, sounding-board, creative soulmate and an unequivocal, intensely loyal supporter as I struggled to build our business. It is difficult to comprehend the passing of someone so full of life. I and everyone else at Rockwell will miss him greatly.”

Memorial Services will be held on June 8, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076, 770/993-4811. Baden served his country as a combat infantryman during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. His ashes will ultimately be placed at Arlington National Cemetery.

Condolences may be sent to the family in care of his 17-year-old daughter, Shelby Baden, who was the center of his world. (Shelby Baden, 440 Millbank Place, Roswell, GA 30076)
