CHARLOTTE, N.C. — PCT magazine and Syngenta Professional Products announced that Steritech Technical Director Judy Black has been named this year’s Crown Technical Excellence Award winner. Begun in 2006 and co-sponsored by Syngenta, the Crown Technical Excellence Award recognizes the contributions of the industry’s leading technical and training directors.
“Syngenta strives to offer our customers the technical and business support to help them achieve the highest level of professionalism. We are proud to recognize professionals in our field who demonstrate a similar level of commitment through the Crown Awards program,” said Ashish Malik, head, Professional Pest Management, Syngenta. “Skilled technical directors, such as Judy Black, play an integral role in the success of individual pest control companies and the reputation of the industry as a whole.”
An industry professional with nearly 20 years experience, Black is highly regarded by her company, coworkers and colleagues. In her current role, Black has been responsible for developing service protocols and training updates, providing field support to a team of service professionals, and assisting in product research and recommendation. Black also played an integral role on the team that developed Steritech’s EcoSensitive pest prevention system, recognized by the U.S. EPA for reducing the risks associated with pesticide usage. Throughout her career Black has been dedicated to developing procedures for eliminating pest issues through the use of IPM techniques, while minimizing the industry’s reliance on pesticides.
Black was chosen not only for her work at Steritech, but for her industry-wide contributions. She’s a frequent industry speaker, association committee member and respected writer who authored “Fabric & Museum Pests” for the 9th edition of the Mallis Handbook of Pest Control. Black currently is the national chair of the National Pest Management Association’s Technical Committee.
Black was nominated by her peers and selected after a thorough review of her professional accomplishments. She will be honored during NPMA Academy in July and profiled more in-depth in an upcoming issue of PCT magazine.
