Kansas Agriculture Secretary Jackie McClaskey signed an order allowing pest control companies to issue electronic statements of service in lieu of paper copies. The policy also allows companies to keep other documents in digital format, as long as they can be printed, if necessary.
The acceptance of Electronic Statements of Service will be reflected in future agency rules and regulations currently being rewritten, however that process takes several months to complete. In the meantime, the order allows pest control companies to engage in issuing Electronic Statements of Service immediately. Pest control companies are still required to provide customers hard copies, when requested.
This policy letter is effective immediately and will remain in effect until the requirements are implemented in regulation or voided by the Secretary.
The Kansas Pest Control Association has actively worked on this issue with the Kansas Department of Agriculture, and appreciates their response to the concerns expressed by KPCA while understanding the importance of this issue to thousands of pest control operators in Kansas.
KPCA thanks Secretary McClaskey and the KDA who worked on the issue and responded to the needs of these Kansas companies.
