Three Industry Professionals Earn ACE Credentials

A trio of industry professionals recently were certified as an Associate Certified Entomologist by the Entomological Society of America. Deryk Kemp, Michael Corprew and Nick Vasko all earned this designation.

Kemp is operations manager for Exodus Exterminating, Rochester, N.Y. "We're very proud of the work Deryk Kemp has done and the knowledge he has gained in order to become a certified ACE," said Dale Larnder, one of the owners of Exodus Exterminating. "It means a lot to have nationally-recognized, certified experts as part of our company." 

Corprew was recently named general manager of business operations at Albemarle Termite & Pest Control, Elizabeth City, N.C., after having worked as sales manager for the N.C. firm. He began his career with the company 14 years ago as a student and part-time technician. Following school he became a full-time salesman until his promotion to sales manager in 2012. He will be handling the day-to-day operations for the company.

Vasko works for Pestco Professional Services, Pittsburgh, Pa. "We are very proud of Nick and his dedication to the pest management industry," said Bob Wiemer, general manager of Pestco. "It means a lot to have nationally-recognized, certified experts as part of Pestco.”

The ACE examination includes questions about basic entomology; insect identification, life cycles, and control measures; health impacts of pests; ecological principles pertaining to pest control; environmental impacts related to pest control; integrated pest management (IPM); pesticide safety and health issues; pesticide technology and resources; organizations and associations of significance to the pest control industry; and laws and regulations affecting the industry.
