William A. “Bill” Kolbe, owner of Wakolbe Consulting, recently celebrated his 50th year in urban entomology/the structural pest control industry.
After graduating with a degree in entomology from the University of Delaware in 1974, Kolbe started in the structural pest control industry as a service supervisor with Western Pest Services (N.J.). In 1979, he was promoted to manager of technical and training service. He was the chairman of the National Pest Management Association Rodent Committee (1988), chairman of the Copesan Technical Committee (1984), Pi Chi Omega Board of Director (1998) and author of Chapter 14 Flies for the Mallis Handbook of Pest Control (9th Edition). He also authored “Time DIPTERA When You’re Having Fun!”
During his career in pest management he also served in the United States Army Reserve and retired in 2002 after 28 years of service. Bill and Pattie, his wife of 51 years, reside in Hardyston Township New Jersey. He can be contacted at wakolbe@gmail.com.
