NPMA Announces Issues for Upcoming Legislative Day

In addition to a great lineup of speakers (Laura Ingraham, Chuck Todd and Paul Ryan) at NPMA Legislative Day 2013, the event is also a fantastic opportunity to highlight and build support for issues facing the professional pest management industry.  This year, NPMA will be featuring the following issues:
 
Pest Elimination Services Transparency & Terminology or PESTT Act - Several members of the House just reintroduced the PESTT Act, legislation limiting U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services' competition with the private sector for rodent, nuisance bird and wildlife work in suburban and urban areas. 
 
Electronic Pesticide Use Records Legislation - An increasing number of pest management professionals are going "paperless" in an effort to achieve cost savings and realize higher efficiencies.  Unfortunately, some companies are running in difficulties in their transition to a "paperless" office in the form of outdated state requirements that require certain information to be conveyed to consumers via hard copy.  A bill NPMA is working on, permits - not mandates - pest management professionals to retain and convey pesticide use reports and related information electronically.
 
And lastly, for fumigators, NPMA Legislative Day is a great chance to make the case before members of Congress of the importance of retaining the food uses for the fumigant sulfuryl fluoride; and, for Floridians, an opportunity to talk with members of Congress about the potentially devestating impact of invasive termite species.
