MILWAUKEE  — Liphatech introduces Generation™ BlueMax Mini Block rodenticide, a highly durable bait specifically formulated to provide maximum protection against bait crumbling, scatter, melt, and mold in commercial accounts where humid, moist or hot environments are encountered and/or third-party audits are the norm.

The built-in durability of BlueMax minimizes the need to replace bait under extreme climatic conditions. Liphatech says BlueMax offers a unique combination of attributes that make it ideally suited for commercial rodent control. These include:

  • Block strength: Food-grade grains are specifically formulated to ensure block durability and density for less bait crumbs and scatter.
  • Weatherability: Optimum paraffin content guards against crumbling and bait melt in humid, moist, or hot environments.
  • Mold suppression: New preservatives deliver superior protection against mold.

The unique formulation found in BlueMax also incorporates the active ingredient difethialone, a single-feed anticoagulant. Difethialone is a unique compound that requires only half the rate (25 ppm) of other anticoagulant rodenticides, according to Liphatech. A lower rate of active ingredient makes BlueMax more palatable because it’s less detectable to rodents, Liphatech says. The antidote for difethialone, which is the same antidote for any other anticoagulant rodenticide, is Vitamin K1.

Al Smith, Liphatech’s director of marketing and business development, said BlueMax is expressly designed to help PMPs overcome a number of difficult issues when using bait in commercial operations with humid, damp or hot conditions. “Things like crumbling, moldy or melting bait are simply unacceptable; a poor audit score can cost a PMP an account,” Smith said. “Another key issue is overall efficacy and efficiencies. Moldy bait, which is more likely to get that way in these environments, becomes rancid over time and is unappealing to rodents. That means rodents won’t eat it and the bait has to be frequently replaced. BlueMax can reduce bait replacement and associated costs.”

Smith added that BlueMax was developed based on market-based research, which included a number of successful field trials with a diverse range of PMP’s. PMP’s commented that the block’s smooth surface allowed visual distinction between the gnaw marks of insects and rodents and this improved their ability to provide information about pest activity to their customers.

“In keeping with our mission to be a solutions provider, we developed Generation BlueMax to protect PMPs and their customers against the kinds of challenges that can occur in these baiting situations,” Smith said. “What we found in the lab and in the field is that BlueMax holds up – and in so doing – delivers overall efficacy that leads to customer satisfaction. Its proven durability also limits how often the bait needs to be replaced, which makes life easier and more profitable for virtually any PMP.”

Generation BlueMax Mini Blocks are currently available in 15 lb. buckets in the United States and in a 5 kg. pail (packed four per case) in Canada. Liphatech plans to introduce additional formulations and package sizes later this year.
