SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Dan Moreland, publisher of PCT magazine, was recently awarded the UPFDA Malcolm Stack Integrity Award.

Moreland, a 35-year veteran of the pest management industry, was presented the award on April 22 at the UPFDA (United Producers, Formulators & Distributors Association) Spring Conference, held at the Marriott at McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The UPFDA Malcolm Stack Integrity Award was developed and established by the UPFDA board of directors in 2005. It was established to honor those individuals within pest control who demonstrate a commitment to the industry and carry themselves with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.

“The award was named in honor of (Bell Laboratories’) Malcolm Stack because he was viewed as embodying the qualities that the award was intended to recognize,” said Steve Levy, Bell Labs’ CEO.

The award has been previously presented to three recipients: Roland Rhodes, Tom Wright, and Millard and Ada Oldham.

“For 2015, I have the pleasure of presenting the Malcolm Stack Integrity Award to an individual who embodies all the qualities that an award like this is intended to recognize. This individual is a 35-year veteran of the pest management industry. He is known by many of you as the kindest, most honest, most hardworking person in the pest management industry,” Levy said at the event.

“No doubt most of you have received a handwritten note from him over the years, congratulating you on a well-deserved personal or professional achievement,” Levy continued. “And while not a supplier or manufacturer or PCO, this individual has advanced the professionalism of the pest management industry as much as anyone — past or present.”

Moreland, who serves on the UPFDA board of directors, was surprised (and honored) to be presented with the award in Arizona.

“I’m honored to receive the UPFDA Malcolm Stack Integrity Award because it embodies what I admire most about this essential service industry, a commitment to entrepreneurial innovation, love of community, and personal and professional devotion to the advancement of the pest management industry,” Moreland said. “Malcolm Stack embodied those qualities during his lifetime and UPFDA honors that legacy by doing the same through the work of its members on a daily basis.”
