RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif — Innolytics announced today the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources became the 49th state to grant registration for OvoControl® P for pigeons. The product effectively controls egg hatchability in pigeons and essentially represents non-hormonal oral contraception for birds.
OvoControl P (nicarbazin) was registered by the US Environmental Protection Agency in May 2007. Following the federal registration, each State requires its own State Registration and the registration process in Massachusetts can be especially thorough.
"Interest in OvoControl P by impacted communities has been extensive and nationwide", said Erick Wolf, CEO of Innolytics. "There is common interest among Pest Management Professionals and the customers they serve in adopting this new safe and humane tool to help manage local pigeon populations"
"OvoControl P is now registered in 49 of 50 states as well as Washington, DC. The only state still pending is New York where we are working closely with the authorities to finalize the registration," added Dr Alexander MacDonald, Innolytics' Chief Science Officer.
In addition to exclusion and removal, OvoControl P represents yet another component in an integrated program of pest bird management. In combination with other mitigation measures, OvoControl P results in a more comprehensive and effective, long-term control program.
