Massey Services Receives Patent for Bed Bug Treatment

ORLANDO, Fla. — Massey Services announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued a patent for the heat remediation technique developed for the elimination of bed bugs.

Various techniques have been proposed in the past for the efficient elimination and prevention of these pests; however, the common techniques were found to have inconsistent levels of success against bed bugs and most have not been completely effective, according to Massey Services. 

“Massey Services’ heat remediation process allows for the consistent eradication of pests in a given space and returns that space to the user in considerably less time than traditional methods,” said Tom Jarzynka, training & technical director for Massey Services.

The patented process involves heating ambient air in a given space at temperatures lethal to arthropod pests, including bed bugs. Maintaining these temperatures for a set amount of time allows the heat energy to penetrate locations where bed bugs reside, many of which are typically inaccessible by traditional treatment methods. This heat remediation treatment has been successfully used in virtually all types of human dwellings.
