Matt Dempsey to Serve as FPMA Interim Executive Vice President

Dempsey, current director of government affairs for the Florida Pest Management Association, was appointed the association's interim executive vice president.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Upon the untimely resignation of former FPMA EVP Karen Barnett, FPMA President, Jennifer Leggett of Lindsey Pest Services, Jacksonville, Fla., immediately secured the Executive Committee’s approval for the appointment of FPMA Government Affairs Director, Matthew B. Dempsey, to serve as the Association’s interim executive vice president. Dempsey celebrates his fourth year of service to FPMA in January 2007, and eagerly accepted the Executive Committee’s offer.

Following the selection of an Interim EVP, Leggett established a task force to research the continued long-term betterment of FPMA in its role of providing excellent service to the Florida pest control industry. Leggett ordered the task force to be comprised of members of the FPMA executive committee and Association past presidents, and has currently designated the group, the FPMA Transition Task Force.

Leggett has directed the task force to conduct a “membership driven approach to change” by researching the thoughts, suggestions and recommendations of FPMA members, industry stakeholders, partners and government leaders. Leggett further directed the task force to provide written recommendations for change to the Board FPMA general membership.

Finally, Leggett directed that these proceedings be conducted with complete transparency to the FPMA membership, and urged the task force to announce a deadline for the completion of its recommendations once the FPMA board has formally acted upon its recommendations.

In conjunction with other task force activities, Leggett announced that the association would hold a public forum related to the Transition Task Force activities at the 2007 Power Forum, and provided a link on the FPMA web site to begin collecting member recommendations at pmp_services@flpma.org.
