McCall Service Celebrates International Women's Day

McCall Service is recognizing its female employees and encouraging women to take up jobs in the pest management industry, which has traditionally been a male-dominated field.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – McCall Service, Jacksonville, Fla., will celebrate its female employees on March 8 for International Women’s Day. International Women’s day celebrates women leaders and the social, economic, cultural and political achievements made by women. McCall Service is especially excited to recognize their female employees and wants to encourage women to take up jobs in the pest management industry which has traditionally been a male-dominated field.

For the entire month of March, McCall Service will be recognizing the women of McCall and shining a spotlight on female leadership in pest management. They will be sharing women employees’ photos, years in the industry and what they enjoy about their careers at McCall Service.

Kayla Carroll, administrative director at McCall Services says, “Over the years a decline in trade school education has greatly impacted the number of qualified candidates for pest control jobs. As it stands, women make up only 5% of the workforce in the pest control industry which is even less than truck drivers, construction workers and welders. With women making up half of the population it made sense to do more to attract women candidates so that we could grow our applicant reach and improve the overall quality and strength of our workforce.”

Lena Strength, pest technician from McCall’s Gainesville office. “I've been working for two years now in the industry. I love my customers and enjoy learning something new every day. When I started McCall's, I didn't know much on the pest side so there's something new I learn daily.”

Ashley Murdock, commercial account manager from McCall’s Ocala office. “I am brand new to the industry. I started back in October of 2019. I decided to pursue a career in Pest Control because I felt like there was opportunity for me to learn something completely new and the fact that there is so much to learn, I will always be challenged. I am a career oriented person and dedicated to making this my expertise and climbing my way up the ladder to management. I love the people! Not only the people I work with, but the people I get to meet outside of the industry on a daily basis!”

Sabrina Crowder, lawn technician from McCall’s Jacksonville office. “I've been in the industry for about 6 months. I most enjoy the customers. Meeting new people and being able to make them smile when they are happy with their lawns.”
