LEONARD, Mich. — Mark Colombo, owner of Tree and Lawn Spraying, Leonard, Mich., is the winner of “Green Marketing: Opportunity for Innovation” by Jacquelyn Ottman.
Colombo entered the online contest, and his name was drawn randomly from a pool of entries. The book was featured in PCT's special report on green marketing.
The 51-year old Colombo started in the pest management industry more than two decades ago, working as the forester for the city of Troy, Mich.
His three-employee company, located about 30 miles north of Detroit, does mainly tree spraying, but has started expanding into spraying foundations, he said. He also services some prisons in that city.
“(It’s) the contact with people,” Colombo said when asked what he enjoys about the pest management industry. “I enjoy talking with people and solving their problems — just getting the job done, really.”
