IBM's business consulting arm has a released a study that analyzes the impact of Millennials in today’s workplace and the need for organizations to create multigenerational work environments where everyone can thrive.
Millennials, individuals born between 1980 and 2000, have been described as lazy, needy, shallow, entitled and reticent to accept criticism. However, the new IBM report challenges many of these perceptions. The study, which surveyed some 1,784 employees of different age groups in 12 countries and six industries, debunked five myths about Millennials, a group many regard as workplace prima donnas, the result of doting parents.
The study found that Millennials were not all that different from other generations when it comes to things like career aspirations, what they want from a manager, and how they like to make decisions.
