ST. PAUL, Minn. - New cases of the tick-borne Lyme disease topped 1,000 for the first time in Minnesota last year, according to data from the state health department.
Public health officials are concerned by the 1,023 new cases in 2004, because there were only 473 new cases in 2003 and because the threat of the disease appears to be spreading northwest to new counties.
