FRASIER, Mich. - The Michigan Pest Control Association announces the recipients of the 2008 MPCA Scholarships. Two scholarships were awarded this year. The recipients are William Preston and Christopher Driver.
Preston will be awarded $1,500. He was recommended by Kevin King of North Shore Services in Traverse City. He will be attending Michigan Tech this fall and will be pursuing a degree in computer engineering.
Driver will be awarded $500. He was recommended by David Driver, technical sales specialist with Univar. Driver is in his third year of Pharmacology School at the University of Cincinnati.
Bill Welsh of Rose Pest Solutions is the chairperson of the 2008 Scholarship Committee. The committee members include Chuck Bellgraph of Aardvark Pest Management, Dave Driver of Univar, Rich Merritt and Jim Rutherford of Action (WDI) Specialist. “It was very hard to pick just two recipients, eight very qualified students applied this year,” said Welsh.
The MPCA Foundation supports and encourages individual and corporate contributions to the General Scholarship Foundation. MPCA’s goal is to assist students in their academic endeavors and to support the professional pest management profession by helping deserving and outstanding students attain their educational goals.
