RALEIGH, N.C. — Members of the North Carolina Pest Management Association volunteered at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern N.C., and held a food drive as part of this week's 2015 Pest Control Technicians (PCT) School, as part of the new NCPMA In Action program. NCPMA In Action is a program designed to encourage community outreach among NCPMA members.
In addition, the NCPMA is holding a food drive throughout the PCT School for non-perishable food and household items that will be donated to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina following the close of the conference on Jan. 29.
“As an association we are committed to helping the people of our state whether it’s through pest management treatments or by giving back to those in need,” said Lee Smith, 2014-2015 NCPMA Vice President. “We are excited to be providing our time and food drive donations to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.”
The annual PCT School is one of the largest gatherings of its kind in the nation, attracting hundreds of pest management professionals each year. It includes sessions and classes about the latest in pest management techniques. In addition, the NCPMA offers training and renewal classes for its Wood-Destroying Insects Report (WDIR) Accreditation program, awards the annual Technician of the Year Awards and inducts two new members to its Hall of Fame.
The 2015 PCT School is being held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center in Durham. It begins today and continues through Jan. 29.
