MYRTLE BEACH, N.C. — Kicking off the 2013 Carolinas/Mid-Atlantic Summer Conference in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the North Carolina Pest Management Association (NCPMA) welcomed its executive officers for 2013-2014. NCPMA members are also attending classes concerning the latest research regarding bed bugs, mosquitoes and other pests.
The new officers include President, Burns Blackwell of Terminix, Company in Greensboro; Vice President, Scott Canady of Canady's Services Inc. in Lumber Bridge; Secretary/Treasurer, Lee Smith of Rid-A-Pest, Inc. in Morehead City; and Past President, Mitch Taylor of Capital Pest Services, Inc. in Raleigh.
“This is an exciting time for our organization and our industry as new developments in pest treatments and research are being discovered every day. I look forward to working with my fellow officers to represent pest management professionals statewide and to help guide the North Carolina Pest Management Association through the upcoming year,” said Burns Blackwell, president of NCPMA.
In addition, two people were sworn in as new board members. The new board members are Tony Dean of PESTAR in Camden and John Adkins of Four Seasons Pest Control in Danville, Va.
The 2013 Carolinas/Mid-Atlantic Summer Conference was held at the Hilton Myrtle Beach and is presented by the National Pest Management Association. It includes pest management professionals from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
The officers will serve a one-year term ending July 2014. Each of the executive officers has served previous terms on the board of directors and has been active in board committees.
