SANTA FE - A Rio Arriba County, New Mexico woman has been diagnosed with a hantavirus infection.
State Department of Health spokeswoman Deborah Busemeyer says the disease was confirmed Tuesday.
Busemeyer says the woman was admitted to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque on Saturday.
New Mexico has recorded seven confirmed cases of hantavirus infections in people this year. Three have been fatal
The disease is transmitted through particles of dried urine, droppings or saliva of infected rodents, particularly deer mice.
