LOUGHBOROUG, UK — A new independent magazine and e-news service has been launched for all those involved in the pest management sector. Called respectively Pest and Pest+, the emphasis will be on the UK market but there will also be regular commentary on international news and developments and coverage from a cross-section of international events.
Both publications will be free to anyone connected with pest control including, commercial pest control companies, facilities pest control, consultants, researchers, regulators, manufacturers and distributors. Non-UK readers are welcome to sign up.
Pest, the printed magazine, will be published every two months with the first issue distributed in January 2009. Before that, in December 2008, all those who have already signed up will receive the first Pest+ e-news delivered direct to their own computers. Pest+ will be emailed in the alternate months to Pest, or more frequently to cover important breaking news.
Publishers Frances McKim and Helen Riby are already known to many in the sector. Frances who will be the editor for the new publications has a particularly long association with pest management both in the UK and internationally. For the last 15 years she has been editor of Professional Pest Controller. Her achievements were recognised this November when she was included in the Pest Control News Hall of Fame 2008.
The launch of Pest and Pest+ is an exciting development for pest management as Frances explains, “For the first time in the UK there will be regular monthly news. But that’s not all. As the news comes into our office at Pest, we will be posting items to our Web site. So if you want to keep totally up to date, make www.pestmagazine.co.uk your home page, or add it to your favorites for regular checking.”
Pest and Pest + will deliver a mix of unbiased news, impartial advice and topical technical features from all sectors of the industry; all written by people who understand pest control and pest controllers.
Helen Riby adds, “We have been overwhelmed by the hugely positive response we have received from all sectors of the industry. People are enthused by our independence and the prospect of getting news more frequently. We’d particularly like to thank the National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA) for providing us with the opportunity to introduce Pest and Pest+ at the recent PestTech event when we were inundated with pest controllers signing up to receive their free copies.”
