Registration is from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m (with coffee and doughnuts), with training from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (lunch provided). There is no cost for participating licensed pest control operators and state regulators.
Pest control companies play a vital part in preserving structures after flood damage, so at the request of pest control companies and associations, Nisus has developed and organized on-location training workshops and supporting educational materials. Nisus and its distributors already have coordinated workshops in Jackson, Miss, and the New Orleans area (Madisonville, La) and are scheduling additional workshops for Florida and the Northeast in November. “We have conducted two of these training workshops in conjunction with our distributors, and the response has been amazing,” says Kevin L. Kirkland, president of Nisus Corporation. “In New Orleans, more than 100 companies packed the facility to learn how to disinfect structures and protect wood structures from mold and wood decay fungi.”
Gary Wehlen of E and G Pest Control, Inc., in New Orleans, said that the Mold-Care work has improved his overall pest control business. “People who didn’t think of using pest control services before are now having problems they want a professional to handle, and they remember us.”
Dr. Jeff Lloyd, vice president of research and development, Nisus Corporation, advises PMPs to take careful steps when dealing with flood-damaged structures because of the multiple dangers and health risks that exist, including sewage. Lloyd and the Nisus technical staff have developed a 10 step Structural Protection Checklist to help pest control professionals and homeowners deal with emergency situations (see www.nisuscorp.com).
