NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — The New Jersey Pest Management Association will hold its 59th annual Clinic and Tradeshow at Hickman Hall on the Cook College campus of Rutgers, the State University, on Thursday, Aug. 17. The event will feature experts on pest management topics, plus displays of the latest technologies and equipment to control insect and rodent infestations.

A highlight of the event will be a presentation by Maurice “Termite” Watkins, a former boxer and fumigator from Houston, Texas, who in 2003 volunteered to go to Iraq to provide pest control services for the troops where he was asked to train Iraqi boxers to participate in the 2004 Olympic games held in Athens. A book about it has been optioned to become a motion picture.

The nation’s leading authority on rats, Dr. Robert Corrigan, will lead seminars on the methods pest management professionals use to eliminate a rodent population and the best inspection techniques to identify signs of a rodent infestation. In April, he conducted a three-day workshop in the nation’s capitol to help rid Washington, D.C., of a growing rat population.
