WASHINGTON - Last week, NPMA public policy staff met with several Congressional offices to discuss changing the Department of Labor’s proposed overtime regulation. NPMA participated in these meetings as part of the Partnership to Protect Workplace Opportunity (PPWO), a diverse coalition of industry stakeholders. NPMA was joined by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Retail Federation (NRF) and the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), to name a few, in the Congressional office meetings. This cross section of industry representatives demonstrates the need to change the proposed overtime rule. NPMA’s Policy Team will continue to communicate with Congressional offices to advocate change in the coming weeks and months.
In order to maximize NPMA's advocacy efforts NPMA is asking that PCOs click here and send their Congressional representatives a message expressing concerns.
Without action, the minimum threshold for salaried and hourly workers eligible for overtime will raise to $50,440 annually ($970) per week. This means that ANY EMPLOYEE earning less than the new threshold will be eligible for overtime.
