FAIRFAX, Va. — The National Pest Management Association (NPMA) calls for applicants to the PestWorld Internship Program in conjunction with PestWorld 2008, October 22-25 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in the Washington, D.C. metro area. PestWorld is the largest annual gathering in the world of pest management professionals and draws thousands of participants representing every area of the pest management industry.
The PestWorld Internship Program is open to any undergraduate or graduate student (at least 21 years of age) interested in a career in pest management; majors from science to business management are acceptable. Candidates will be selected based on the applicant’s statement of interest in the pest management industry and NPMA’s intention to choose a cross section of students from varying fields and schools.
“NPMA is committed to the future of the pest management and recognizes that university students are an important part of the future of the pest management industry,” said Rob Lederer, executive vice president of the NPMA.
In exchange for working (October 21-24) at the PestWorld convention under the direction of NPMA professional staff, interns will receive:
• Registration for the entire four day meeting, which includes an educational program, general sessions with keynote presentations, exhibit hall admission, and meal functions, including receptions. Interns will be encouraged to participate in all PestWorld 2008 activities when not assigned work tasks.
• Lodging (double assigned occupancy) plus breakfast and lunch each day.
• $100 cash stipend to help with expenses, plus free parking.
Selected interns must provide their own transportation to PestWorld. NPMA staff will make every effort to assign interns to work assignment beneficial to their area of interest.
All applications must be received by September 22, 2008 and notification of status will be given via e-mail by September 29, 2008.
