The National Wildlife Control Operators Association (NWCOA) announced it will be holding events in Colorado, Montana and California in February and March.

COLORADO
The NWCOA Certified Basic Wildlife Operator Training meeting takes place Feb. 10-11, at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Denver.
The event runs from 8:00 am - 5:00 p.m., with registration beginning at 7:45 am.
Description: NWCOA brings this two-day certification course to Colorado with the support of the CWCOA to train new and current WCOs that perform wildlife management services in or on residential and commercial properties. Upon completion of this course and successful passing of a test, the WCO will become a NWCOA Certified Basic Wildlife Control Operator, receive a certificate of completion, and use of the logo.

The California Regional Wildlife Management Training Event is scheduled for March 2-3, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Sonoma in Rohnert Park, Calif.

MONTANA
The NWCOA Bat Standards Certified, Part 1 event takes place March 26 in Great Falls, Montana, and March 27, 2018, in Billings, Montana.
Description: The NWCOA Bat Standards is offered by NWCOA to aid in the survival and future of bats in North America, as well as to educate those who perform bat exclusion services in residential and commercial structures.
The Bat Standards Certified Course (Part 1) covers bat biology (little brown, big brown, free-tailed, and pallid bats), bat behavior, bat identification, bat morphology, service agreement language for bat removal and guano removal, seasonal restrictions, inspection techniques, equipment, safety, detailed exclusion techniques, job pricing, decontamination techniques, rabies, bat handling, updated white-nose syndrome information, and much more.
This course is a one day, classroom style training course taught by Certified NWCOA Instructors. Upon completion of this course and successful passing of a test, the WCO will become NWCOA Bat Standards Compliant Part 1 Certified. Successful students will also receive a certificate of completion and have use of the logo mark in marketing materials.
NWCOA has identified a need to define and quantify what constitutes a professional bat roost mitigation from structures and to inform service providers regarding the impact of white-nose syndrome is having on existing bat populations. The standards emphasize the importance of resolving human/bat conflicts in a manner that both protects human health and provides a conservation-minded approach to protecting our wild bat resources.
