HICKSVILLE, N.Y.— The New York State Pest Management Association (NYSPMA) announced that it will offer an ACE Preparatory program on Jan. 31, 2009. The program will be held at Residex in Hicksville, N.Y. and will help attendees prepare for the ACE exam.
The ACE program makes entomological certification possible for those without formal education in entomology. If you have extensive experience and knowledge in entomology through on-the-job training, experience, and self-study, you may qualify to become an ACE.
The ACE exam is designed to test practicing pest management professionals on the practical aspects of applied entomology.
The major topics covered by the ACE Exam and the NYSPMA ACE Preparatory Class include:
- Basic entomology
- Identification, life cycles, and control measures for important structural pests
- Health impacts of pests
- Ecological principles pertaining to pest control
- Environmental impacts related to pest control
- Integrated pest management (IPM) principles
- Pesticide safety and health issues
- Pesticide technology
- Laws and regulations affecting the industry
* As a plus NYSDEC Credits have been applied for in various applicable categories.
