PCO M&A Specialists, William Blair announced that the total U.S. pest index increased 14.2% year-over-year in October. These results are in line with those observed over the last two months (up 14 percent in September and 15 percent in August). On a sequential basis, the index increased 1.8 percent year-over-year from September 2021 to October 2021.
The total pest index was essentially flat on a sequential basis. (September also increased 14 percent year-over-year.) The performance in September was driven by an acceleration in the residential index, offset by a slowdown in the commercial, termite and bed bug indices, according to William Blair Equity Researcher Tim Mulrooney.
The Residential Pest Index increased 20.7 percent year-over-year and 1.3 percent on a sequential basis. The Commercial Pest Index increased 11.5 percent year-over-year and 0.4 percent on a sequential basis. The Wood Destroying (Termite) Index increased 3.4 percent year-over-year and 4.3 percent on a sequential basis. The Bed Bug Index decreased 5.8 percent year-over-year and 4.1 percent on a sequential basis.
