ATLANTA –  Orkin announces its recent acquisition of the assets of Urban Entomology Associates, Inc. The purchase was finalized on Jan. 12.

Headquartered in San Dimas, Calif., Urban Entomology Associates has been serving commercial accounts since 2002, when the company was founded by Jim Harmon. With expertise in specialty pest control, Urban Entomology Associates has performed pest management services for museums, libraries and school districts throughout the region.

Urban Entomology Associates was previously owned by Jim Harmon, a graduate entomologist from Purdue University, and his wife Gail. Both Jim and Gail will remain with Orkin to oversee the integration and assist in the growth of the company’s specialty service accounts in Los Angeles area and throughout the region.

Orkin President Glen Rollins said, “Urban Entomology Associates represents excellence and quality in specialty pest management throughout the Los Angeles area.  By adding the assets and expertise of Jim and Gail Harmon to our company, we strengthen Orkin’s position as a provider of industry-leading pest control service in both the residential and commercial sectors.  Our companies have much to learn from each other, and we are eager to collaborate.”

Orkin will open a new service center at the former headquarters in San Dimas, where it will service existing Urban Entomology and Orkin customers.
