This past Saturday was World Malaria Day, and Nothing But Nets recently sent out an urgent and immediate need for 275,100 nets at refugee camps in Kenya and Uganda. Refugees are the most vulnerable population to malaria illness and death on the continent. Nothing But Nets’ goal was to fill this need with partner support by World Malaria Day – April 25, 2009. One net costs only $10 and can save a life.
Through Fight the Bite 2009, Orkin pledges to raise a minimum of $150,000. Nothing But Nets will use these funds to purchase and distribute at least 15,000 long-lasting, insecticide-treated mosquito nets in African communities, and teach the recipients how to use them.
