As part of NPMA Legislative Day, the first Pest Vets Veteran of the Year Award was presented to Marty Overline of Aardvark Pest Management, Philadelphia. Sponsored by FMC, the Veteran of the Year Award was created to honor a veteran who has helped to grow the pest management industry and the communities they serve.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Overline launched Aardvark Pest Management upon leaving the military at age 22. He was the driving force behind the launch of Pest Vets, and was named the committee’s first-ever chairman.
FMC Marketing Specialist Arnold Ramsey, a U.S. Marine, presented the award to Overline. “A veteran's spirit lives on long beyond the battlefield," Ramsey said. "We still that same commitment to our brothers-in-arms when we return. Each of the men and women who participate in the Pest Vets venture have contributed greatly not only to our industry but to our country. However, one person stands out. Marty Overline approached Bob Rosenberg with an idea. Would NPMA consider launching a program to help veterans transition to our dynamic industry? It was that idea that was the spark, the impetus, behind Pest Vets.”
