ORANGE COUNTRY, Calif. — Bird-B-Gone University recently wrapped up its second series of sold-out training classes attended by pest management professionals from throughout the United States and the world. Topics covered during the intensive, hands-on educational experience included:
- Marketing bird control services
- Conducting a site evaluation
- Quoting a job
- Bird control product options
- Installation procedures
“Bird-B-Gone University offers reality-based training,” observes Bruce Donoho, president of Bird-B-Gone, Inc., San Juan Capistrano, Calif. “It features a lot of hands-on training. It’s not a class where we try to sell our products.”
Upon successful completion of the course curriculum, attendees become “Authorized Installers” of Bird-B-Gone products. Attendees also receive continuing education credit from the Structural Pest Control Board of California, according to Donoho. “The university helps open up a dialogue and create a relationship between PCOs and Bird-B-Gone,” he said. “It creates a collaborative relationship, which is what you need when performing bird control work.”
Bird-B-Gone University is held at the company’s manufacturing facility in Orange County, Calif. In addition to seven hours of interactive training, participants also are able to observe how various bird control products are manufactured.
Future Bird-B-Gone University classes are scheduled for August 18 and September 22. Registration is free. To receive a course outline and learn more about this continuing education opportunity, call Hiedi Williams toll-free at 800/392-6915 or visit www.birdbgone.com.
