NWCOA to be Held in New Orleans in January

The National Wildlife Control Operators Association is hosting its inaugural NWCOA Convention and Trade Show in New Orleans in January.


The National Wildlife Control Operators Association is hosting its inaugural NWCOA Convention and Trade Show in New Orleans in January.

NWCOA says there will be up to 55 exhibitors, all of whom will have an opportunity for a spotlight demonstration of their products/services.

The event, to be held Jan. 13-18, 2011, at the Astor Crowne Plaza, New Orleans, will feature the latest equipment, technology and trends in the wildlife management industry.

Attendees will earn credits toward the NWCOA Certified Wildlife Control Professional program. Scheduled educational sessions include:

  • State of the industry
  • Marketing and advertising opportunities for small business
  • Hiring employees — timing, interviews and legal considerations — when to do it and how to get a good one
  • Pond management and aquaculture
  • How to write insurance-friendly proposals
  • Zoonotic disease prevention
  • Airport wildlife control
  • Feral cat impacts
  • Ground-dwelling mammals — trapping and control methods
  • Commensal rodents
  • Stinging insects
  • Grant money programs and support available to small business
  • USDA Wildlife services
  • White nose syndrome report
  • Bio-hazard remediation in structures
  • How to justify capital expenditures
  • Safe capture and control of wildlife
  • Nuisance bear or mammals

Registration fees start at $300 and include professional or supporting membership dues for 2011.

NWCOA is organized exclusively as a mutual benefit non-profit trade association to assist persons or organizations providing commercial wildlife damage management and control activities.
