Portsmith, Va. — Kevin Kordek is an entomologist and president of the National Pest Management Association. He says treatments like the one used in the school are completely safe for the kids, but do not kill all of the bugs.
While chemicals can be effective, Kordek says there's really only one surefire way to kill the uninvited guests.
"Heat is 100 percent effective and bed bugs will never develop resistance to heat. They're either dead or they're not."
The pest control service will return to the school in two weeks to inspect the building for signs of reinfestation.
