Though not his first choice, Dold was appointed to the House's Financial Services Committee, which oversees all components of the nation's housing and financial services sectors, including banking, insurance, real estate, securities and public and assisted housing.
"I am eager to begin working on bipartisan measures in January to address the housing and financial issues most important to the district and nation," Dold said about the appointment in a statement. "Illinois suffers from significantly higher unemployment rates than other areas of the country, and this committee will be influential in addressing the systemic problems that caused the economic recession."
