CLEVELAND — Pest Control Technology (PCT) magazine announced the winners of $50 Visa gift cards for participating in PCT research conducted by third-party firm Readex Research. The following PMPs completed the Small Fly State of the Market survey, and a new survey added to PCT’s portfolio this year — the Outdoor State of the Market — and were drawn at random as gift card winners.

Hall has been with Thomas Pest Services for more than four years and was recently promoted to service supervisor in January.

Some of his responsibilities include training new technicians, pulling gear or supplies for technicians, inspecting service vehicles and other equipment to make sure they are in working order, helping out at difficult accounts and addressing customer concerns.

“The Albany, New York, labor market is strong, with a low unemployment rate that has declined over the past year,” Hall said. “Albany continues to experience steady job growth. Thomas Pest Services has many positions open throughout the company, and with our focus on hiring, we are actively filling these roles.”

Brum started his company in 1997 with a friend and branched out on his own in 1999. He originally started in the ornamental and turf business, and then added pest control services around 2010.

“Ninety percent of our business now is in pest control, with a small amount of ornamental and turf,” Brum said. “Business has really steadied the last five years and actually picked up more during the COVID pandemic. We realized it was everyone working from home that was the reason for the increase in calls.”

Brum said spiders, cockroaches and ants are the company’s primary revenue-generating pests.
