ST. LOUIS, MO. – Rodents are “complex mammals living in complex environments” that pose significant control challenges for pest management professionals, according to Dr. Robert Corrigan, one of the keynote speakers at the PCT Rodent Management Summit held earlier this week in St. Louis, Mo.
Other speakers at the three-day conference included such well-known names as Dr. Stephen Kells of the University of Minnesota; consultant Dale Kaukeinen; Jay Bruesch, technical director, Plunkett’s Pest Control; Dr. William Kern, Jr. of the University of Florida; and David Fincannon, president of A-All Pest Control.
Approximately 150 pest management professionals from throughout the United States traveled to the Hyatt Regency Hotel at historic Union Station in the heart of St. Louis to attend the conference, which featured in-depth discussions on the biology, behavior and control of the three major rodent pests encountered by structural pest control operators – Norway rats, roof rats and house mice.
Sessions focused on such diverse topics as rodenticide labeling and re-registration, rodent management in food warehouses and production plants, bait stations versus burrow treatments, and non-chemical strategies for Norway rats and mice in residential and commercial accounts. Editorial coverage of these and other sessions will appear in PCT’s Annual Rodent Issue later this year, as well as at PCT Online.
A photo review of the conference, which was sponsored by Atlantic Paste & Glue, Bell Laboratories, Liphatech, Syngenta Professional Products and Woodstream Corporation, follows.
