VALLEY VIEW, Ohio – PCT announced Kat’s Pest Solutions, Los Angeles, as the winner of its third annual Vehicle Wrap Contest. Owner Katherine “Kat” Herrera wins $500 from PCT. The competition was sponsored by Oldham Chemicals.
Herrera worked with an email-based creative team and graphics company Gorilla Print and Wrap on the winning wrap, which is notable for its pink color scheme and for its cartoonish sketch of Herrera grasping a rodent.
“I love that my wrap represents both the strong feminine side together with the masculinity required in a male dominated industry,” Herrera said. “The ‘Beast’ was wrapped almost 10 years ago and it has made us stand out and be noticed in a sea of plain or bland vehicles.”
Herrera said the wrap is doing its job of grabbing attention. “I’m not kidding when I tell you it has given us a celebrity-like status. When I show up at an apartment building, [residents] will say, ‘I see your trucks on the road and I was hoping I would see you.’ People will ask to take pictures of me next to the truck.”
A 20-year pest control industry veteran, Herrera has worked as a customer service representative and service technician, and while working for Isotech Pest Management she appeared on the TV program “Verminators” as the show’s lone female technician. Herrera launched Kat’s Pest Solutions in 2010 and runs the company with sons Kevin and Ricky, brother Steve, and new member Nick. Herrera said the company has grown through referrals and has developed a reputation as a service provider that “does whatever it takes” to solve a problem.
PCT’s judges commented on the wrap:
• This wrap has everything for me. Vibrant colors that grab attention, a humorous cartoon, a large phone number, photos of the pests that they control and even social media where customers can follow.
• It’s bright, it’s colorful and I love the catchy slogan
• Artwork is awesome. Really show's the owner's/company's personality
